Argos update: Members vote in favour of pay & benefits claim

Dear Argos member,

On Friday, 16th August 2019, Mandate members in Argos voted in favour of a 2.5% pay rise backdated to July 1, 2019, as well as a detailed process on the allocation of additional hours to existing employees. Members voted in favour of the new proposals by 98%.

The agreed process on the allocation of additional hours is important in that it ensures fellow Mandate members are given the first option to increase their minimum working hours before any additional workers are recruited.

The proposals were informed by the Mandate member priorities survey conducted earlier this year and negotiated by the elected Argos National Negotiation Committee.

Argos members can view the proposals here. If members have any queries regarding the proposals they can contact their shop stewards or local Mandate office.

The facility for ‘Banded Hours’ contracts, which provide workers with certainty over their hours and their income, will also be available to Mandate members in Argos.

Members who have been working in Argos for more than 12 months and who wish to be placed on a band of weekly working hours can make a request to the Company in writing.

For more information on banded hours contracts and how to make a request please contact your shop steward or your local Mandate office. More information on banded hours and a link to a sample request letter can also be found here.

Members can read an article on the new agreement here.

This deal was made possible through our collective strength as a union. Please continue to encourage all Argos workers to join Mandate Trade Union.

In Solidarity,

Mandate’s Argos National Negotiating Committee
