Vacancy: General Secretary Appointment 2023

Mandate Trade Union is recruiting a General Secretary to build on our long tradition as an independent and effective trade union advancing the rights of lower paid workers.

The new General Secretary will:

• spearhead the development of Mandate’s vision and strategy which will deliver for our members, harnessing the skills and energising the commitment of our voluntary representatives and talented staff team.
• lead the development and implementation of effective strategies, delivering the best results for members and managing the financial and administrative affairs of the Union.
• work closely with the National Executive Council in leading the delivery of Mandate’s purpose – improving the terms and conditions of our members and advancing their rights and opportunities.

The role requires a thorough understanding of the importance, power and potential of trade unions for working people; a track record of delivery through effective leadership and in driving strategic and operational change; strong people leadership and organisation management skills.

Location: Dublin City

Contract type: Fulltime, permanent position,

Remuneration: The remuneration package reflects the seniority of the role and its responsibilities.
