Boots workers to vote on 3 percent pay increase
Tuesday 2 June 2015
Mandate members in the Boots Ireland pharmacy chain will be balloted on a 3 percent pay increase in the coming weeks following the union’s lodgement of a pay claim in May.
Mandate say the pay increase is well deserved recognition for the hard work and dedication the workers have given to the company.
Brendan O’Hanlon, Mandate Divisional Organiser, said: “Boots is one of the most successful retailers in Ireland and that’s largely down to their workers. We’re recommending acceptance of this deal which will impact on approximately 2,000 workers in 80 stores nationwide.”
Mr O’Hanlon commended Mandate members in Boots who have been key to negotiating this pay increase.
“This pay increase has only come about because of the activity of our members, particularly the shop stewards who sit on the National Negotiating Committee. They lodged the claim with the company and they will now, hopefully, reap the benefits of this very valuable pay increase,” he said.
“The successful negotiation of this deal goes to show how a profitable and very successful retail company should do business with their workers. This agreement is in the best interests of the company, the workers and it’s an example of mutual respect that other employers should follow,” said Mr O’Hanlon.
Mandate say meetings will be arranged across the country where balloting will take place and the results will be known on 19th June.
