Retail union calls on Minister to implement establishment orders immediately

Mandate Trade Union has today (Wednesday, 2 October) welcomed the publication by the Minister for Jobs, Innovation and Enterprise, Richard Bruton, of the Labour Court’s Review of the Joint Labour Committee system (JLC’s).

The union is now calling on the Minister to implement the establishment orders as a matter of urgency.

Mandate Assistant General Secretary, Gerry Light said, “The publication of the report is long overdue and we’re urging Minister Bruton to get the system up and running as soon as possible.

“The vacuum created by the abolition of the JLC system has the potential to see hundreds of thousands of low paid workers being exploited.

“The sooner the establishment orders are implemented the better,” Gerry Light said.
