Mandate Members Urged to Support UAR & Le Chéile Anti-Racist Street Carnival

Wednesday 10 September 2025

United Against Racism and Le Chéile have announced they will be co-hosting an anti-racist, multicultural community carnival in Dublin on Saturday the 27th of September 2025. The event will begin at 1pm at the Garden of Remembrance and march to the Custom House. Mandate members, along with all people, organisations and communities in Ireland who wish to take a stand against racism are encouraged to attend.

“We plan to fill the city streets with a diverse display of solidarity to show that racism, bigotry and violence have no place in our society.

In recent weeks, we have seen a horrifying rise in racist violence against the Indian community, as well as other immigrant and minority communities in Ireland. United Against Racism and Le Chéile believe we must urgently reclaim the streets. The majority of people reject the poison of racism. We see the positive contributions of migrants to Ireland. We know that there is a place for everyone on this island.

The people being targeted by racist violence are our neighbours. Their children are the children of our neighbours. We must stand by them and not allow the far right to divide communities. The far right play on people’s frustrations with the politics of fear. They want you to believe that the crises in affordable and accessible housing, education, health care, and other services are the fault of immigrants.

These problems have been created by successive governments who punch down on working-class people across all communities. Everyone faces these challenges together. We must stand together to solve them.

The march already has the endorsement of ICTU and many community groups. We encourage all anti-racist organisations, trade unions, political parties, activist networks and all those living on the island of Ireland, to join us on Saturday the 27th at the Garden of Remembrance, 1pm.
