September 1st – 7th 2025 is National Week of Action for Workers’ Rights. Trade Unionists across Ireland will be taking action and urging the public to support the Respect at Work petition, demanding that the Government strengthen workers’ rights legislation. The petition is growing – so far, over 7,500 members of the public have already pledged support.
Currently, workers in Ireland have no right to join a Union, or to collective bargaining.
In the recent General Election, a majority of all TDs signed the Respect at Work pledge, which stated:
“I pledge to support legislation which promotes collective bargaining, protects workplace representatives and ensures the right to access a trade union at work.”
This landmark achievement represents a new political consensus on the need for stronger workers’ rights in Ireland.
The Government has reflected this sentiment by committing to an Action Plan for Collective Bargaining in its Programme for Government.
We need your support to ensure this plan helps people who want to Unionise their workplace and isn’t watered down to keep big business onside.
The more signatures we have, the harder it is for the Government to ignore us.
You can help by sharing our petition with colleagues, friends, and family.
It’s time for the government to live up to their commitments.
