SuperValu MOPI workers vote for 2pc pay increase
Friday 20 October 2017
Mandate members in the Musgrave owned SuperValu MOPI (former Superquinn) stores across the Republic of Ireland have voted for a 2pc pay increase from January 1st 2018.
The members voted by a margin of 90pc in favour of the deal with a turnout of approximately 60pc. The pay increases will be applied to more than 2,300 workers in Supervalu and Mandate Assistant General Secretary Gerry Light said it was a good deal for the workers who had helped to bring the business back from the brink a number of years ago.
“This deal will mean a lot to our members in Supervalu. With rents, house prices and everything else going up in cost, workers need every penny they can get.
Mr Light thanked the members for their positive engagement and said both the turnout and the result is an endorsement of the hard work of the SuperValu national negotiating team and their efforts to achieve the best possible outcome for all SuperValu workers.
“This deal again shows the value and importance of workers being in a union and being active within that union. Mandate will continue to strive to improve working conditions for our members whenever and wherever possible.”
