Mandate seeks LRC meeting with Dunnes Stores

Tuesday 7 May 2013

Mandate Trade Union, which represents workers at Dunnes Stores, has sought an immediate LRC conciliation conference on behalf of the 4000 members employed in the company.

The union is seeking a meeting to address a number of concerns raised by members throughout the country including:

  • Protection of weekly hours/earnings.
  • Protection of established and acceptable working patterns.
  • The abolition of compulsory split days.
  • The abolition of roll over contracts.
  • Standardisation of pay scales/rates.

Mandate’s Assistant General Secretary, Gerry Light said, “Mandate has sought to address all of these issues directly with the company but it would seem the company continues to be reluctant to engage with their workers’ representatives.

“We have therefore been left with no option but to refer the very serious concerns of our members to the Labour Relations Commission (LRC) in the hope that the company will constructively engage with their workers and their elected representatives.
