The Dublin Council of Trade Unions will be holding its annual May Day demonstration on Wednesday, 1st May.
The event will start in Parnell Square at 7.00 p.m., marching to Liberty Hall for a public meeting at Beresford Place. Speakers will in-clude young trade unionists, as well as representatives from the National Women’s Council Ireland and the Coalition to Protect the Lowest-Paid.
The theme of this year’s event is ‘1913/2013: Unfinished Business’. The ‘unfinished business’ includes legislation to ensure recognition of trade unions in all employments and negotiating rights for all members.
The demonstration will be followed by a social event in Liberty Hall.
There will be music and stalls dealing with various aspects of the 1913 Lockout.
