Make sure you’re registered to vote by 5pm today!
Monday 14 May 2012 With voting on the EU Fiscal Treaty due to take place on 31 May next, it’s vital that all Mandate members and their friends and family members are registered to vote – because if your name is not on the Electoral Register, you will not be able to vote and defeat this Treaty which will see the imposition of failed austerity policies on the Irish people for years into the future.
Today, Monday, 14 May 2012, at 5pm is the deadline for people to be added to the Register if they’re not already on it so please check the register to see if you are not on it or not.
Checking if you’re registered is quick and simple and can be done in many public offices or online.

You can ask to see the Register of Electors at your local post office, Garda station, library or city/council office to see if your name is on the register.
Or alternatively, click onto www.checktheregister.ie and follow the instructions to see if your city/council office has you registered.
If you’re registered, your name will pop up along with all your voting details and a polling card will be issued to the registered address a few days before voting takes place.
Different Address
If you can’t find your name, there could be several reasons for this. You might be registered but at a different address or you might not be registered at all.
To find out what the problem is, enter your name and your previous address into the relevant council section for that address on www.checktheregister.ie. If you were previously registered for that address, your details will pop up.
To register at your new address, you need to download the attached form (RFA3, also available at the Franchise section of your local city/county council office) and fill in your details. However, it needs to be stamped by a local member of An Garda Siochana. To assist the Garda, you should bring photo ID (passport, drivers license etc) and another form of identification (recent bill, college ID).
The form must then be returned to the Franchise Section of the relevant county/city council by 5pm today. The addresses of each are available on the website of each council.
Not Registered
If your details don’t appear on the register and aren’t included in any of the county/city councils sections, you must complete the attached application form (RFA2).
This form must also be stamped by a local member of An Garda Siochana and then returned to the Franchise Section of the relevant county/city council. The addresses of which are available at the website of each council.
Deadline
Completed forms must be returned directly to the Franchise Section of the relevant county/city council by 5pm today, Monday, 14 May 2012.
