Sit-in to continue with full union and public support

The Mandate Trade Union has this evening said that KPMG are still considering their response to the union’s request that the La Senza workers be paid all outstanding monies and redundancy payments owed. Earlier today, Mandate – including some of the La Senza workers that were told yesterday that their employment had been terminated with immediate effect – met with KPMG representatives in the Clarion Hotel near Dublin’s Liffey Valley Shopping Centre.

Mandate Divisional Organiser, Michael Meegan, explained that he had been contact with KPMG this evening.

“KPMG’s representatives in Ireland are well aware of our concerns about the monies owed to La Senza staff in relation to pay, overtime and holidays, as well as redundancy. These concerns have now been passed on to their colleagues in the UK and we were told this evening that they are still considering their response,” Michael Meegan said.

“In the meantime the sit-in at Liffey Valley continues with the full support of the Mandate Trade Union as well as the wider public and political leaders across the political spectrum. Mandate and the workers remain as determined as ever to do whatever is necessary to get a just settlement for the La Senza workers,” Michael Meegan concluded.
