Mandate has welcomed the Government’s publication of the independent
Duffy/Walsh review on the operation of the Joint Labour Committees
(JLCs) that set wage rates and conditions for 200,000 low and middle
income workers.
General Secretary John Douglas highlighted Duffy/Walsh’s findings that
the lowering of JLC wage rates would not create employment contrary to
the claims of the employers’ organisations and that Joint Labour
Committee rates are not out of line with market rates.
