Debenhams announce job losses in the Republic of Ireland

Mandate Trade Union has confirmed rumours of job losses across the Debenhams business in the Republic of Ireland today (Thursday, 21 January 2010).

The extent of the job losses is not known at this particular point in time but Mandate has sought an urgent meeting with management to establish the potential impact for their members.
Linda Tanham, Assistant General Secretary for Mandate said, “We heard this morning that there will be job losses in Debenhams, one of Irelands largest fashion retailers, in the imminent future. Discussions are only commencing at the moment and not a lot of detail is known but we hope to be able to clarify the situation for our members after our meeting with management scheduled for next week.”
Ms Tanham added, “More and more jobs
