A delegation of Mandate members and Officials took part in a protest march through Naas, Co. Kildare on Sat.31st Oct in support of the 26 workers, members of the TEEU who have been on strike at the Green Isle Foods Plant in Naas for over 10 weeks. The protest march was organised by the Kildare Trades Council of Trade Unions and was supported by a large delegations from MANDATE, UNITE, SIPTU, INTO and TEEU and the general public. The President of the ICTU and Joe Higgins TD addressed the Protestors. The dispute centres n the dismissal of seven workers by Green Isle Foods who refused to allow the workers to be represented by their Union TEEU. Despite Green Isle Foods receiving over 40 million in state aid, they have refused to attend the Labour Relations Commission or the Labour Court to resolve the dispute.
