Rally for sacked Connolly Shoes workers to take place in Dun Laoghaire tomorrow

Wednesday 6 November 2013

Mandate Trade Union are holding a Rally in support of four members who were dismissed from their employment in Connolly’s Shoes, Dun Laoghaire in 2010.

The workers have been awarded compensation sums totalling in excess of €100,000 in relation to various breaches of Employment Law, including Unfair Dismissal, but to-date have not received one cent of that from their employer.

Matthew Connolly is now trading from the same premises under the brand name of Shoe Xclusive with one of the workers continuing strike action and picketing the store five days a week for more than three years now.

The union also intends to highlight defects in Company and Employment Law which have become apparent because of this case.

Speaking at the event will be one of the workers, a representative from Mandate Trade Union and local politicians.
