Thursday 12 May 2016
Following today’s (Thursday, 12th May 2016) shock announcement that Debenhams is to enter examinership, Mandate Trade Union has written to the company and the Examiner seeking an urgent meeting to discuss the future of the company.
Mandate represents 2,000 workers in the 11 Debenhams stores and also in the concessions and cosmetic stands in their outlets.
The Union says their members are shocked and disappointed at the announcement.
Gerry Light, Mandate Assistant General Secretary said: “Obviously our members are upset and worried for their future and they need some clarification on what is happening in the business.”
He added, “We have written to the company and the Examiner seeking meetings. Clearly we intend to do everything in our power to protect job numbers and the terms and conditions of employment of our members.”
