RE: Notice of Local Meeting and Ballot on Revised Labour Relations Commission Proposals Regarding 2% Wage Claim
Dear Member
Following the rejection by the members of the previous proposals in relation to our ongoing pay claim both sides in keeping with agreed procedures returned to Labour Relations Commission hearing on 16th April 2013 in an effort to reach agreement.
At the hearing we informed the commission and the company of the issues that were raised at the general meetings prior to the previous ballot, which we believed had contributed to the rejection of the last proposal. We made them fully aware that if any new proposal emerged from the commission they would have to take cognisance of these issues and reflect them in any new proposal.
Following prolonged negotiations between Mandate and Brown Thomas which were facilitated by the Labour Relations Commission a revised set of proposals has now emerged for consideration by the members.
It is the national negotiating committee’s belief that these proposals deal fully with all of the issues raised by the members and give the guarantees sought by the members.
The national negotiating has therefore unanimously agreed to recommend these revised proposals for acceptance to the members in Brown Thomas.
We would like to thank the National Negotiating Team comprised of shop stewards from all four stores for their work on your behalf in what were a difficult set of negotiations. They are Ms. Joan Gaffney (Dublin), Mr. Larry Yourell (Dublin), Mr. John Clinton (Cork), Mr. Tom Coughlan (Limerick) and Mr. Paddy Ward (Galway).
In order to brief members on the revised LRC proposal and ballot them on same, the Mandate official Mr Dave Moran will be in store on Tuesday 30th of April 2013 between the hours of 10.00am and 5.00pm in the staff canteen. It is important that all members make an effort to attend these briefings and vote on these proposals.
Members who are unable to attend the meeting will have the option of voting in the Mandate Head Office at 9 Cavendish Row Dublin 1 up to and including 12.00 noon on the 3rd of May 2013.
On behalf of the Brown Thomas/Mandate National Negotiating Team
