Dunnes Stores Solidarity Events Portlaoise and Newbridge

Monday 27 April 2015, 12am

Solidarity marches in support or our members employed in Dunnes Stores will take place in Portlaoise on Thursday 30th April at 7pm from the Town Hall Portlaoise to Dunnes Stores Kyle Centre and on Thursday 7th May at 7pm from the Newbridge Town Hall to Dunnes Store Moorefield Road.

Mandate Trade Union launched the Decency for Dunnes Workers Campaign at the 2014 Biennial Delegate Conference. The campaign aims to make real change on the issues faced by workers in Dunnes Stores. These issues are decent hours and earnings, job security, fair pay, and trade union representation.

Unfortunatly since the launch of the campaing Dunnes Store refused to attend the Labour Court hearing in October 2014 and further refused to implement the recommendation of the Court issued in November 2014. The actions of the employer Dunnes Stores led our members to ballot for Industrial Action that took place on 2nd April 2015.

This day of action was very successful as it was hugley supported by the our members, the public and received all party political support.

Mandate is calling on all our members in the Midlands Division to show solidarity and march with Dunnes Stores employees in Portlaoise and Newbridge in order to give a clear message their employer Dunnes Stores that they need to treat their employees with dignity and respect and meet with their  trade union in accordance with the agreement that they signed up to.

We ask that you make every effort to attend and look forward to seeing you there.

These events have been arrange to allow all members to show their support to our members employed in Dunnes Stores.
