Support Galway Bus Workers

Bus Éireann workers in Galway will stage a march on Thursday as part of their industrial action. A number of marches will take place ahead of a special city council meeting at 10am at College Road to discuss traffic congestion.

The Bus Éireann staff plan to hand a letter of protest to the Cathaoirleach of the county council Michael Connolly and Mayor of Galway, Noel Larkin urging the government and company management to give the people of Galway back their bus services.

All Mandate members are urged to attend this march if possible and show support to our Bus Workers in Galway. These workers have been on strike for a lengthy period of time and they need our support. They are standing against cuts to their wages and it is a battle that is relevant to us all. This and previous governments have consistently underinvested in public transport and clearly have a broader agenda of privatisation across the network. We need to stand against a race to the bottom.
