Secure Rents Campaign Public Meeting

A public meeting will take place in Galway on the Campaign for Secure Rents to raise awareness of this important campaign.
The campaign was launched by a number of trade unions including Mandate, CWU, IMPACT, SIPTU, Unite the Union, along with online campaigning group ‘Uplift - People Powered Change'. The ICTU has also publicly supported the campaign.
The demands are very simple:
1. Limit rent increases to the Consumer Price Index (CPI).
2. Ban evictions by landlords for the purpose of sale – which is currently being exploited.
3. Move from current 4 year leases to indefinite lease terms.
